About us
The Moving Arts Collective is a group of artists working across the disciplines of writing, music, movement, visual art and curation who aspire to engage and bring together the arts community of Jersey by initiating collaborative projects that enable physical gathering, thinking, conversations, sharing, making and presenting art.
We are an artist collective beginning our journey in 2022 and forming as a not for profit organisation (NPO-7124) in 2023. We decided to form this collective as we recognized the need in Jersey for representation of artists by artists. Our collective will give voice to the generosity of art and its power in creating contemplation, critical space, care and sensitivity to surroundings and local and international histories, and as such contribute to a gradual change in the social fabric.
Our activities support the culture of art in Jersey and look at diverse models of what it is to be an artist. We aim to give space to a diversity of voices and modes of art-making, and by searching for spaces for artists to meet.
We advocate for the need for certain basic conditions, including affordable working space, to enable the consistent delivery of artistic labour. We will think creatively and collectively about how different spaces in Jersey could be used and co-used as art making spaces.
We recognize the importance of openness to change to maintain our core values, and as such work using a dynamic and reflexive structure of developing and delivering projects and ideas which are process-led. We think together and work to contribute towards an open and healthy art culture.
We believe in establishing links with other artists, sharing skills and opportunities, and facilitating international exchanges.
